Fendi Large Peekaboo

Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, released in 2009 and named for the children’s game, Peekaboo is inspired by mid-century styles. A trapezium shape, clean lines and minimalist take on luxury, it quickly became part of the Fendi DNA, and the youthful design revolution pioneered by the 3rd and 4th generation of the Fendi family still at the helm of house Fendi.

Carrying a Peekaboo says something about the wearer: empowered, playful but “not afraid to hide,” says Venturini Fendi. “Its two compartments – one you can keep close to you and closed, and the other you can choose to reveal something of yourself to the world.” A distinctive design allows the wearer the choice to either conceal or reveal its inner beauty (or monstrosity if we’re talking about the version with eyes).

Peekaboo’s openness speaks to Fendi’s craftsmanship, as beautiful on the inside as the outside – the result of hours of handwork. First, the finest leather is selected, hand-cut, and then hand stitched and constructed by leather artisans in Italy. This large Peekaboo in neutral leather with gold-tone hardware features a flat top handle, optional shoulder strap, and two sided turn lock closure at top, centered on the bar dividing the bag in two. Thanks to its clever construction and weighted hardware, a simple swivel of the turnlock creates a drape (or ‘smile’) that reveals a coated canvas lined interior.
